Microarray
1) It is a tool for analyzing thousands of gene expressions at a minimum time.
2) It is a microscopic slide imprinted with tiny spots defined by a position.
3) The DNA molecules attached to each slide act as probes to detect gene expression, which is also known as the transcriptome.
Application
a) Gene expression and profiling- Detection and comparison of specific genes' presence or absence mainly in cancer.
b) Used for identification of SNPs.
c) In the detection of Genetic disorders, infectious diseases and biomarkers
d) Protein microarray for studying the various interactions.
